Home Holiday Cottage Links Walk Descriptions Deutsch

Walks begin again the week before Easter 2005. First half of the walks programme on this website end of February. Hard copy programmes available one week before walks begin.

See Holiday Cottage for vacant dates.

All walks start from the Moot Hall at 10.15 and return between 4 and 5 and most are between 8 and 10 miles unless otherwise stated. Tickets are available on the day, £6 per adult, £3 per child. A child being between 5 - 18. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a packed lunch and plenty liquids. You are advised to carry your own first-aid kit. Leaders will be pleased to advise on the terrain and nature of the walk and will be present whatever the weather. The Leader may choose to cancel the walk if there is only one customer and is empowered to refuse to escort anyone who appears unlikely to be able to complete the walk and has the discretion to change the route/walk according to conditions. Some walks require transport and fares are extra. Walks in Bold in midsummer are long and taxing and involve a late return, please consult the leader.

 GRADES.
A -
A serious walk, usually going high with steep ascents on rock and grass.
B - A good day's walk with some steep ascents, not over strenuous.
C - Comparatively easy going on mixed ground, suitable for all ages.

Car Parking
As you will appreciate, parking can be a bit of a problem in Keswick - and also quite expensive. Alternatives are:  the Rugby Club, Pay and Display,  £2.80 all day at present, turn left at the mini-roundabout just past the Indian Restaurant and Chinese Restaurant and Millets, take first right, drive  past the bus station and supermarket and take the right at the corner 100yards on and it's 50 yards on your right. Be sure to pay or you could be fined.

The  Labour Club, £2 all day at present.  Go straight on at the mini-roundabout and it's 300 yards on your left, just before the bridge. If there's no-one there just leave a note on your dash to that effect (with the time). You may have to pay the set charge when you return but you certainly won't be clamped or fined or anything silly like that.

Another free alternative is  the old railway station. At the only pedestrian crossing in Keswick, turn off the main road to drive downhill, down a long, straight road, this is Station Road, if there are no places along here keep going until you reach a mini-roundabout (¾ of a mile), turn left, the Swimming baths are on your right and the old station car-park on your left.      Good luck!
